Handshake's privacy controls are simple. Handshake's away setting let's you be matched with other people, but doesn't notify you. You can then look at the reasons why you matched at a later time. By turning Handshake off, you stop being matched with other users. You also have the option to block specific people so that user can't access your Handshake profile.
